Green Lantern Review

I thought that I'd contribute to our big comeback by writing a review about the new movie Green Lantern.

In brightest day, in blackest night,
No evil shall escape my sight
Let those who worship evil's might,
Beware my power... Green Lantern's light!
-Green Lantern Oath

This movie released on Friday. It is follows the origin story of the first human to be selected to join the a group of inter-galactic peace keepers known as the Green Lantern Corps, Hal Jordan. Hal Jordan is a fighter pilot who is charged with saving our sector of the galaxy.

I saw this movie in 3D. It is yet another movie that I felt didn't benefit from 3D. Another trend I am starting to notice about 3D movies is that they seem to be a lot darker in 3D then they are in 2D. This is a trend I don't like. Especially since I feel like the Green Lantern would have significantly benefited from having a little brighter outlook.
As far as the story goes I found that many of the various Green Lanterns that were featured were great deep characters. The story I felt was a little underwhelming, but I felt that Ryan Reynolds was great in this role. One of the things I've heard people complain about is the fact that Ryan Reynolds is all CG when he's in the suit, but it makes good sense in the movie. I won't spoil it, but don't get caught up on it, but it will make sense if you see it.

Many critics have been harsh to this movie, but I felt that it was a good fun movie to go to. I would recommend this movie. It was definitely on par with the other superhero movies that I've seen so far this year.

Welcome back! And keep checking back for more!

That is all. Carry On!

May the 4th Be With You

Happy Star Wars Day everyone!!
So things have been very busy in the Wired Gamers world, and the real world as well. On Sunday U.S. Navy SEALS took down Public Enemy Number One. And most of us here at Wired Gamers are finishing up school for the year.
As you may have noticed from my intro and the title of today's post, it is Star Wars Day, May the 4th (get it?). And thanks to the internet, I traced down the origins of of this geek holiday. According to ABC, the holiday comes from a misinterpretation of a George Lucas interview by a German news organization who interpreted "May the Force be with you" as "May the 4th be with you" ABC Article.
Also today George Lucas and crew released a website discussing September's Blu-Ray release of the Star Wars Saga. Here is the webpage: May The 4th Be With You. I would greatly recommend you go to this site and see what is coming in September. I am really looking forward to this box set coming out. It looks incredible. And if you decide that what you see is super awesome, then here is the link to the box set on Amazon: Star Wars Blu-Ray on Amazon. For those of you who don't know anything about this release, there will be 3 box sets coming out in September, one that is all six movies, one for the first trilogy, and one for the second trilogy. I can't recommend it enough. The amount of special features are incredible.

Prequel Trilogy Box Set
Original Trilogy Box Set
Complete Trilogy Box Set
Yup those are the box sets. And there aren't really any big game releases this week except for the Call of Duty map pack called Escalation which if you haven't bought yet here it is: Escalation on Xbox Live. Also this weekend Thor is coming to theaters and it looks great. Plus it has Natalie Portman. All of you should go watch it this weekend.
Here is the Thor trailer:

New Planet of the Apes Movie

So apparently there is a new Planet of the Apes movie coming out this summer. And unlike the previous one that starred Marc Wahlberg, this one is a prequel that apparently shows how the apes came to become super intelligent, ruling the world, all that. The movie is called Rise of the Planet of the Apes. So do you want to see it now? Of course you do. So here you go:

So do you guys like it? Hate it? What?
